Tandem sells Pillars to Asia
German producer and distributor Tandem Communications has sold epic miniseries The Pillars of the Earth to a raft of Asian broadcasters.
This news comes as international television event Asia Television Forum comes to an end in Singapore.
Japanese broadcaster NHK and South Korea’s KBS have both acquired the eight part series, which is produced in association with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free. Star Movies and Fox have also picked up pan regional rights to the drama across South East Asia.
The show has been an international success airing on Starz in the United States, Channel 4 in the UK, ProsiebenSat.1 in Germany as well as a raft of other major networks.
Tandem is also already working on the follow up to the Ken Follett adaptation; broadcasters ProSiebenSat.1, Austria’s ORF, Spain’s Cuatro and Sky Italia have all signed up to the Follett-penned sequel World Without End, which is produced with Scott Free and Canada’s Take 5 Productions and takes place 200 years after Pillars of the Earth.
