NBCU launches new UK production arm
NBC Universal has set up a new factual and entertainment production arm in the UK known as Chocolate Media run by former BBC commissioner Alan Brown.
The Hollywood studio has also hired Hat Trick head of comedy Mario Stylianides to run a new comedy division.
These moves follow NBC Universal International’s recent expansion in the UK after it acquired independent production company Monkey Kingdom.
Brown, who was previously senior commissioner for entertainment at the British public broadcaster, has produced series including The Restaurant and Grow Your Own Drugs. He will produce factual and entertainment series for the UK.
Stylianides, who was head of head of comedy at Hat Trick, which produces series including Facejacker and Armstrong and Miller will separately set up his own comedy unit, which is currently untitled.
The pair will work under Michael Edelstein, president, international television production.
