Hasbro and Corus cut programming deal
Hasbro Studios, the production arm of the US toy giant, has inked a programming deal with Canadian broadcaster Corus Entertainment and said more international content agreements will follow.
Corus runs several kids and youth-focused channels including YTV, Treehouse, Nickelodeon Canada, Teletoon and Teletoon Retro. The Hasbro deal gives it upcoming Hasbro animated series including Transformers Prime, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, G.I. Joe Renegades, The Adventures of Chuck and Friends and Pound Puppies.
Hasbro inaugurated its LA production studio after joining forces with Discovery to create kids channel The Hub, which launched last month.
“Corus Television marks the first of many international distribution agreements that are designed to create Hasbro’s immersive brand experiences around the world,” Hasbro Studios president Stephen Davis said.
He added; “We are delighted to be in business with Corus, one of Canada’s leading specialty and pay TV broadcasters, which is renowned for its niche-focused television brands, strong partnerships and compelling content.”
