Danny Cohen named BBC One controller
BBC Three boss Danny Cohen has been named as controller of BBC One.
This follows Jay Hunt’s move to Channel 4. Cohen is currently controller of digital terrestrial channel BBC Three, where he has worked since 2007 and has commissioned series including Being Human.
He was previously head of Channel 4’s youth skewing network E4.
He will replace Hunt, who has moved to Channel 4 to become chief creative officer, immediately and will continue to run BBC Three until a successor is named. He will report to Jana Bennett, director of BBC Vision.
Bennett said: “Danny Cohen is one of the most talented TV executives of his generation. His work both here at the BBC and at Channel 4, with programmes such as Skins, The Inbetweeners, Being Human, Women, Weddings, War And Me and Young Voters’ Question Time attest to his skills as an innovator and a great creative thinker.
