Comedy Central Poland inks WB output deal
Comedy Central Poland has inked a multiyear output deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution that will see it air US series including Mike & Molly and $#*! My Dad Says.
The move will see the Viacom-owned broadcaster acquire rights to sitcoms and comedies from the 2009-10, 2010-11 and next year’s 2011-12 development slates and will help the channel ward off competition from rival broadcasters such as Fox Live and ITI’s TVN7, which are starting to air more US series.
Comedy Central Poland will air William Shatner’s forthcoming sitcom $#*! My Dad Says, the Chuck Lorre-produced comedy Mike & Molly, Better Together, which will air on ABC in the United States, and The Paul Reiser Show as well as older episodes of The Middle, The New Adventures of Old Christine and cancelled sitcom Notes From The Underground. It has also picked up re-run rights to Two and a Half Men.
The channel has similar deals with CBS Studios International for David Duchovny’s adult comedy Californication and Twentieth Century Fox International for Jason Lee-fronted sitcom My Name is Earl.
The deal was announced by Miki Chojnacka-Mascianica, VP, entertainment content, emerging markets, MTV Networks International and Warner Bros International Television boss Jeffrey Schlesinger.
