Emiliano Calemzuk swapping Fox for Shine
Fox Television Studios president Emiliano Calemzuk is joining Shine as CEO of its North American operation. Having spent twelve years at Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp in various roles, he will join the production and distribution company run by his daughter Elisabeth this September.
He will join the Shine in the newly-created role of CEO, Shine Group Americas. Based in LA he will oversee Shine’s US operations. The company has been expanding aggressively, but its US operations currently only comprise production company Reveille. It does not have an operation in Latin America, but given Calemzuk’s experience, it is being tipped to establish a presence in the region.
Reveille is currently being run by joint managing directors Mark Koops and Howard Owens. Both will report to Calemzuk when he starts in his new role. Shine acquired Nordic production and distribution group Metronome last April for US$88 million and Metronome’s Friday TV has a US office. It is understood that will continue to operate independently.
At News Corp, Calemzuk has run cable programming arm FtvS since 2007. Prior to that he ran Fox International Channels.
He will report to Shine Group CEO Elisabeth Murdoch. She said: “With his experience and boundless energy, Emiliano is perfectly placed to build on our current successes and indentify new opportunities for the group throughout the Americas.”
Calemzuk said: [The Shine companies] are creative, entrepreneurial and ambitious with incredible potential for growth, and I am genuinely excited about my new challenges at Shine.”
