Millimages sells Gedeon stake
French producer and distributor Millimages has sold its stake in French documentary company Gedeon Programmes.
Millimages has sold its 65.1% stake in Gedeon to SM Investments, the holding company of Gedeon founder Stéphane Millière.
Producer and distributor Gedeon, which is known for science and travel documentaries including Portraits-Self Portraits and Les Aventuriers des Monde Perdu, contributed 25% of Millimages’ revenues last year with an annual turnover of €7.7 million.
This comes as Millimages looks to concentrate its business on animation production; it is currently in production with 52x13mins My Robot and I and 13x3mins Nuts Nuts Nuts, as well as its film business through its subsidiary Bac Majestic, which will release around 40 titles on DVD in the second half of the year. Millimages acquired its initial stake for US$1.2 million in Gedeon in 2002.
