Setanta Ireland launches motor racing reality series
Irish network Setanta Ireland has commissioned CR Entertainment to produce a motor racing reality series.
So You Think You Can Race will follow a number of disgraced athletes including ice skaters, racing jockeys and Canadian hockey players as they battle it out on the motor racing course.
This is one of the most high profile commissions for the Irish pay broadcaster following its restructure last year; following the implosion of the UK arm of Setanta, co-founders Michael O’Rourke and Leonard Ryan teamed with Gaiety Investments, which is run by Irish rock promoter Denis Desmond, to run the Irish arm of the company.
The series is produced by Irish production company CR Entertainment, which is run by Triona Campbell. CR Entertainment, which is part owned and in turn owns a stake in digital production company BeActive, which produces series including Flatmates and Final Punishment, is currently in talks with international distributors to sell So You Think You Can Race worldwide.
