MGM launches Teen Wolf at the LA Screenings
MGM will launch its Teen Wolf TV series to international buyers at the LA Screenings.
MGM is hoping to capitalise upon the trend for vampire, werewolf and supernatural movies and TV shows with the 12x1hr show, based on the 1985 Michael J Fox movie.
“The youth audience is really crazy about this genre and we’re pleased to bring this werewolf mythology series to television,” said Chris Ottinger, executive VP, MGM Worldwide Television. “We are taking the characters through the traditional male-female relationship challenges, both the conflict and the romance, and we’ll deal with young adult relationships in a serious manner.”
The show is a copro between MGM and MTV and was created by Jeff Davis (Criminal Minds) and exec produced by René Echevarria (The 4400). It stars Taylor Posey (Maid in Manhattan) as Scott McCall, the Teen Wolf of the title. MGM is handling all international sales.
“Teen Wolf has all of the right elements for global success, including suspense, drama, romance, and supernatural powers,” said Gary Marenzi, co-President, MGM Worldwide Television. “We’ve assembled a great creative team to enhance the quality look and feel of the production, and the show can be programmed across multiple time periods.”
