Televisa inks novela deal with China’s CCTV

Televisa, the largest producer of Spanish language content in the world, has inked a deal with Chinese broadcaster CCTV to produce local versions of its telenovelas.

The move marks the first time that Televisa will produce a local Chinese version of one its shows. CCTV recently acquired and aired Televisa novela Distilling Love and Televisa acquired CCTV’s Bruce Lee series.

The two companies will work together to produce a novela and are currently looking for stories with Chinese characteristics.

Televisa will then distribute the series internationally.
