Oprah Winfrey Network acquires rights to Sundance doc
OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network has acquired the TV rights to hit Sundance documentary Family Affair as part of the documentary strand it plans to launch.
The cable network, which is set to launch in January 2011, acquired the family documentary, which was written and produced by Chico David Colvard, following the festival.
The channel, which is a joint venture between Winfrey’s Harpo Productions and Discovery Communications, will air it as part of a monthly doc strand, which has been set up in partnership with distributor Ro*co Films International, which will supply one movie per month.
