Turner poaches CBeebies boss Carrington
Cartoon Network has poached CBeebies boss Michael Carrington to run its content division.
Carrington, who is currently controller of preschool channel CBeebies, is to become chief content officer, EMEA, Turner, following the departure of Finn Arnesen last year.
Carrington will step down at the BBC, where he has launched a number of hit preschool properties including In The Night Garden and Charlie and Lola, at the end of February and will join Turner in April. Tina McCann, who has been acting chief content officer will continue until Carrington’s arrival, although her position after this is not clear.
As chief content officer, he will be responsible for the production of all original series, coproductions and series acquisition.
This comes during a major period of upheaval in the UK kids TV industry following Arnsen’s departure as well as the departure of Howard Litton as managing director of Nickelodeon UK last month.
