ITV Studios is opening a French production division. The Paris-based unit will be headed by Francois Florenty who will be director general.
ITV said that it will focus on high-end drama and unscripted programming and will develop new ideas as well as bringing existing ITV formats to the French market.
ITV Studios, the content arm of the UK commercial broadcaster, has been building a network of international offices and the Paris operation will be its seventh after the core production facility in the UK and offshoots in the US, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Australia.
Florenty, who has consulted for various producers and founded Flow Productions, said: “There are many opportunities and benefits for French broadcasters to work with us from the outset. We are able to offer highly successful, tried and tested formats as well as develop tailor-made, innovative programming across many genres.”
