MTV eyes turning web series Valemont to TV

Digital production company Electric Farm Entertainment is in talks with US cable network MTV to turn its hits vampire web series Valemont into a traditional TV show.

The show is currently aired on MTV as two and a half minute interstitials, which are trailing the series being aired on MTV.com and Verizon Wireless’ V Cast Video service.

However, creator Brent Friedman blogged about plans to take the show to the TV screen. “We are currently in serious talks with MTV about growing Valemont into a real TV show. Towards that end, MTV is airing a 1 hour extended edition of the earlier half hour special that they already aired a few weeks back. Let’s show MTV that Valemont is worthy and that vampires never take no for an answer.”

The series, which is distributed internationally by Fireworks International as 35×2.5mins or 5x30mins episodes, follows a group of university students that discover their school is a breeding ground for vampires after a gruesome murder.

The show was created by Friedman, who created Afterworld, and is produced by Electric Farm Entertainment, which is part owned by British commercial broadcaster ITV’s production and distribution arm.
