FremantleMedia and TV1 start Killing Time
FremantleMedia Australia is producing Australian drama series Killing Time for pay TV channel TV1. The 10-part crime drama will retell the true story of disgraced lawyer Andre Fraser.
Australian crime drama has become hot in the wake of Underbelly, the Screentime-produced, DRG-distributed show that has been a smash hit on Network Nine.
Killing Time will, the producers say, give a ‘fascinating insight into the workings of the Australian justice system in a time of brutal upheaval and the war between the criminal class and a corrupt police force’.
Andrew Fraser was a high-profile lawyer defending Australia’s most infamous criminals before cocaine addiction ruins his career and home life, leaving him imprisoned alongside serial killers and psychopaths. The drama will be penned by Ian David (Blue Murder).
The series is supported by Film Victoria and will start shooting in Melbourne next year. FremantleMedia will distribute the series internationally.
TV1 is an Australian pay TV channel and part of the TV1 General Entertainment Partnership, a joint venture between CBS Paramount, NBC Universal and Sony Pictures Television.
