Zodiak sells Twist & Shout to France, Germany

Zodiak Entertainment’s talent format Twist & Shout is to be remade in France, Germany and Romania.

Zodiak Entertainment Distribution, the company’s international sales arm, has sold the format to France’s Virgin 17 and Romania’s Antena 1. Virgin 17 has commissioned six episodes of the show – known locally as Chante Si Tu Peux – to be produced by Adventure Line Productions.

Meanwhile, German producer Studio Hamburg has picked up the option to remake the series in Germany and is currently in negotiations with broadcasters.

The series, which was created by the company’s international format development team known as Zodiak Distillery, follows eights singers that go head-to-head in a series of musical duels. The artists have to sing big hits while everything is done to put them off from ice water plunges to singing with animals.  

The format has previously been made in the Philippines via ABS CBN and Indonesia via TPI and has also been optioned by Australia’s Nine Network.
