DCD wins commissions, eyes more int’l series
DCD Media has seen a raft of its hit reality series renewed by US broadcasters with deals worth US$11.7 million.
This comes as the company ramps up the number of US and international series it picks up for distribution.
DCD-owned producer September Films has been commissioned by WEtv to produce a seventh season of its wedding reality series Bridezillas, while A&E has picked up a second season of The Exterminators. TLC has also commissioned September to produce Mall Cops: Mall of America.
Meanwhile, DCD Rights, the company’s international sales arm is eyeing more US and Australian series following the launch of its investment fund earlier this year. The company is distributing The College Humor Show, which airs on MTV, and Screentime-produced drama A Model Daughter, which airs on Network Ten.
“We’re tracking a lot of international projects and putting options in,” says chief executive Nicky Davies Williams. “We’re interested in Australia because Australian producers have really raised their game in the last few years. Underbelly raised production levels. They’re also coming out of the doldrums a little quicker in terms of drama because of the recent ABC funding,” she adds.
