The CW cancels The Beautiful Life
US network The CW has cancelled its Ashton Kutcher-produced supermodel drama The Beautiful Life. This marks the first cancellation of the latest network season.
The series, which is produced by Kutcher’s Katalyst Media, only aired two episodes, with the latest episode recording just 1 million viewers. This came despite its large lead in from hit supermodel reality series America’s Next Top Model.
The show, which was distributed by CBS Studios International, centred around the cutthroat world of modeling and starred The OC star Mischa Barton. The show had been in production of its seventh episode with production shutting down on Friday.
The CW will replace the series with reruns of Melrose Place, its latest remake starring Ashlee Simpson, and the network has also ordered a pair of reality series. It has commissioned Collins Avenue Productions to produce Fly Girls, about five flight attendants, and a docusoap about New York socialite Tinsely Mortimer, which will be produced by Glassman Media.
