FremantleMedia takes North American options on German Beauty Queen
FremantleMedia’s North American arm has optioned German entertainment format Beauty Queen. FremantleMedia North America has optioned the show in the US and Canada.
The format, created and owned by German indie ohm:tv, has already been optioned in Finland, Spain and Germany although there is not yet a broadcast version in production.
Described as a ‘unique spin on a trivia gameshow’, each episode of the show sees a hair salon set up and the salon’s clients quizzed about entertainment and gossip news. Should they get too may answers wrog they get a haircut from the show’s host.
“It’s universal concept is perfect for the international and US market with its unlimited source of celebrity news,” said ohm:tv CEO and co-founder Joris Eckelkamp.
In Germany Blue Eyes Film & Television has optioned the show. In Finland Susamuru has taken the option and in Spain it is Videomedia.
