Starz launches new comedy series
US cable network is set to launch a number of new series including projects from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas, Matthew McConaughey’s production company and Martin Lawrence.
It comes as the Liberty Media-owned network continues to ramp up its slate of original productions following the success of comedy Party Down and the remake of Oscar winning movie Crash.
The broadcaster is to launch 10 episodes of Failure to Fly, a dark comedy that centres around a support group for people who tried and failed to commit suicide. It is produced by Eric Schaeffer and Jill Franklyn.
It is also set to develop another series from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas, who wrote Party Down. Hour long comedy Waterloo is about a group of young rock stars trying to make it the world.
Meanwhile, the network is also working a comedy drama project with Martin Lawrence and a father son drama Jonah and the Whale, produced by JK Livin Productions, which is run by McConaughey.
