ITV strikes pan-Asian deal for I’m a Celebrity

ITV Global has confirmed the sale of its I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here reality series to Star World. The pan-Asian, English language pay TV channel has picked up the US version of the unscripted series, which aired on the NBC network and on MTV.

Star World, part of the news Corp-backed Asian pay TV group Star, will screen the series from next month.

“Given the success of the show in the US, viewers clearly enjoy seeing celebrities taken off their comfort zone and put in a challenging environment,” Jennifer Batty, VP Programming for Star World said.

“We are confident the US show will enjoy a similar success in Asia when it launches on our channel in July.”

Several broadcasters including TV3 (Ireland) and TVNZ (New Zealand) have already acquired the US version of the show. In the UK ITV’s main digital channel ITV2 had the rights to the US series.
