MTV launches new slate including Teen Wolf remake
US cable network MTV has commissioned a raft of new projects including a US adaptation of Televisa’s hit Argentinean drama Patito Feo, a remake of Michael J Fox film Teen Wolf and a new reality series from Survivor creator Mark Burnett.
The youth skewing broadcaster will launch a local version of Patito Feo, which follows a smalltown girl that gets thrust into the limelight in Los Angeles. The show was originally produced by Ideas de Sur for Argentina’s Canal 13 and was later acquired and remade by Televisa as Atrevete a Sonar.
It will also launch a docusoap starring The Hill’s Audrina Patridge, which will produced by Mark Burnett, a sketch comedy from movie star and former In Living Colour comedian Jamie Foxx, puppet comedy Warren The Ape and Seth Myers and Lorne Michaels-produced animated series The Awesomes.
The network is also weighing the launch of a TV remake of hit ’80s film Teen Wolf, which starred Michael J Fox. Criminal Minds’ Jeff Davis is writing the script, while Prison Break’s Marty Adelstein and Castle’s Rene Echevarria are exec producting.
