India’s SET to launch local version of Celebrity…
Indian broadcaster Sony Entertainment Television is to launch a local version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, the latest international broadcaster to produce its own version of the ITV Studios format.
This follows the successful launch of the show in the US on NBC and news that Swedish commercial broadcaster TV4 is to produce its own version of the gruelling jungle competition later this year.
The Indian version of the 40x1hour series will be produced by Indian production company MidiTech and ITV Studios-owned Silverback Productions. The format will be filmed in Malaysia’s Taman Negara rainforest, thought to be the oldest jungle in the world.
This comes days after Sony rival Star World announced that it would air the US version of the show, which stars Stephen Baldwin, Lou Diamond Phillips, Janice Dickinson and The Hills’ stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.
