CityTV announces fall line up
Canadian broadcaster CityTV has announced its fall slate including a raft of series from the US studios, particularly NBC Universal, Michael Eisner’s first Tornante-produced TV series and a number of original reality shows.
The Rogers Media-owned broadcaster has picked up NBC Universal International Television Distribution’s comedy Parenthood, medical drama Trauma and soon-to-launch stand up comedy The Jay Leno Show.
It has also acquired Disney ABC ESPN Television’s Courtney Cox-fronted comedy Cougar Town, CBS Studios International’s sitcom Accidentally on Purpose, which stars Jenna Elfman, Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution’s mockumentary Modern Family and Sony Pictures Television’s college comedy Community, which was created by Arrested Development’s Joe and Anthony Russo.
The surprise acquisition is Glenn Martin DDS, an adult orientated primetime animated series that will air on Nick at Nite in the US. It is the first TV production from Michael Eisner’s production company Tornante, which is better known for web dramas including Prom Queen. The show follows a dentist as he takes his family on an adventure across the US in his caravan.
The channels original series include cooking show Conviction Kitchen, which follows a pair of chefs as they try and start a restaurant with a staff of former bank robbers and thieves, four part modelling competition Ford Models Supermodel of the World Canada and home renovation reality series My Rona Home.
