The WB.com picks up The Lake

Digital production company Generate has inked a deal with Warner Bros.’ online video portal TheWB.com to air its teen drama The Lake, which is directed by former Beverly Hill 90210 star Jason Priestly.

The 12x10mins series, which is coproduced by Warner Bros Television’s Studio 2.0, will launch in August and marks a return to the studio for Generate boss Jordan Levin, who was previously CEO of The WB television network.

The Lake follows a group of teenagers and their parents as they holiday for three months of the year at Lake Eleanor, forging friendships and romances and dealing with general teenage struggles. The series was created by Meredith Lavender and Marcie Ulin, writers of Canadian drama Defying Gravity, which aired on CTV.

Priestly has directed a number of teen based dramas since leaving the Fox hit series including episodes of the remake 90201 and ABC Family hit The Secret Life of An American Teenager.

The WB.com relaunched last year and has found success with a number of youth skewing web series including Rockville, CA, created by The OC and Gossip Girl producer Josh Schwartz.
