Endemol gets first Polish drama order
Production giant Endemol has won its first order for a scripted series from a Polish broadcaster. Free-to-air broadcaster TVN has ordered a local version of the drama series Vodka and Lime, which was originally produced by Endemol Netherlands for free-to-air broadcaster RTL and then Talpa, the channel launched by Endemol co-founder John De Mol.
The Polish version of the show, Klub Szalonych Dziewic, which follows the lives of four ambitious women, is being cast at the moment.
Having specialised in reality formats, Endemol has been striving to boost its scripted programming business. It will start selling Vodka and Lime as a scripted format at the Central and Eastern Europe Discop programming market, which takes place next month.
“We’re delighted to have secured our first Polish drama commission with one of our proven hit series,” said Caroline Torrance, director of scripted programming at Endemol. “We’re continuing to globally expand our drama business and this commission represents another breakthrough in this genre.”
