DQ, Sony, RAI start work on $23m Little Prince

A host of companies are teaming to coproduce an €18 million (US$23 million) animated version of Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s classic kids books Little Prince.

The main coproduction partners will be India’s DQ Entertainment and France’s Method Animation. The roster of other companies involved includes France 3, Germany’s WDR, Sony BMG and Italy’s Rai.

DQ and Method have already worked together on several series including Marvel’s animated Iron Man series.

DQ is building a reputation for working classic properties into animated series, having just started work on a 52-part CGI version of The Jungle Book and already delivered a reworked Pinky and Perky. The UK-listed, India-based company will have creative input as well handling a lot of the animation work. In that capacity it will receive €7.13 million for its service work.

Distribution rights to The Little Prince will be split between DQ and the other copro partners.
