Hanway strikes movie deals ahead of MIP
Hanway Films, the sales company set up by The Last Emperor producer Jeremy Thomas, has inked a raft of film and documentary deals ahead of MIP TV.
Polish pay TV broadcaster Canal+ has acquired two music documentaries; Julian Temple’s Glastonbury and The Devil and Daniel Johnston, which follows the reclusive rock star.
Australian public broadcaster ABC has picked up a raft of early movies produced by Peter Weir and Philip Noyce including Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Last Wave, The Cars That Ate Paris and Rabbit Proof Fence.
Taiwan’s Hollywood Movie Channel has also bought The Last Emperor, while HBO Central and Eastern Europe has picked up a raft of films by Takeshi Kitano and Derek Jarman for its Cinemax channel.
Meanwhile, Irish public broadcaster RTE has acquired Love is the Devil, the Francis Bacon biopic produced by John Maybury and starring Daniel Craig and Derek Jacobi.
