Digital Rights Group inks Hulu deal
Digital Rights Group has inked a deal with US online video platform Hulu, becoming the first international distributor to work with the site.
Hulu, which is a joint venture between News Corp and NBC Universal, will air a raft of series from DRG’s C4i and Portman catalogs including comedies Peep Show, Green Wing and Rude Tube and dramas including Kingdom and Underbelly.
This deal marks the first time British content will be available on the US service, which has become a rising success since its launch in March 2008. It has received nearly 35 million unique users with over 332 million views.
DRG’s Justin Judd inked the deal. “We’re initially launching with content drawn from our own catalogue but we expect to increase the volume of UK programming on the service and we’re actively seeking additional high quality drama and comedy to roll out. We look forward to working with British producers and content owners to bring their programmes to this dynamic new marketplace,” he added.
