Fox picks up FtvS’ Mental
US network Fox has picked up the rights to air medical procedural Mental, which is produced by the company’s international production arm Fox TV Studios (FtvS) for Fox International Channels.
The series, which is produced by Lois and Clark’s Deborah Joy Levine and The Division’s Dan Levine, was the company’s first US language series to be shot in Columbia after Fox International Channels acquired a majority stake in Bogata-based producer Telecolumbia.
It launched the international production drive to reduce programming costs and was able to shop the series to all of the US networks before sister broadcaster Fox picked up the 13 episode series.
The show follows a rebel psychiatrist in an LA mental health hospital fighting against the system.
The series, which stars Prison Break’s Chris Vance, will initially air in the States in the summer before being rolled out across Fox International Channels networks later this year.
