Prom Queen movie moves ahead

A feature-length version of web series Prom Queen is in the works – as first reported by TBIvision in April.

A report in The New York Times this week quotes Michael Eisner, the former Disney boss and who now runs Tornante, which in turn owns Prom Queen producer Vuguru, as saying the company has to move ahead with a feature-length version of the show.

The newspaper quotes Eisner as saying: "It would be an event, taking an Internet property and turning it into a theatrical movie. I think we have to do it."

Prom Queen debuted on MySpace and can also be seen on sites including YouTube and Veoh. A number of other distribution deals have been cut for the show, which has been sold to broadcasters, Internet platforms or mobile operators in France, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe.
