Strike TV goes live and details new shows

Strike TV has gone live and a raft of new shows are in the offing. The online network was borne out of last year’s Writers’ Strike and aims to provide creatives with an outlet outside of the traditional studio and TV network system. The network officially launched yesterday and as well as viewing content at the strike.tv, the people behind the site said they will seed content to YouTube and Joost.

Strike TV had already announced a slate of initial projects that included comedy series House Poor from The Office writer/producer Lester Lewis, gay teen-drama Anyone But Me from L-Word, Thirtysomething writer Susan Miller. The roster of upcoming shows includes:

Faux Baby: a parenting dramedy from screenwriter Jennifer Maisel
The Tender Morsels: a comedy rock-music drama from Jeffrey Brown, one of the Blue Men in the Blue Man Group
Tony Hand: a comedy about a motivational speaker that is, in fact, just a hand from Seth Kurland, (Friends, Mad about You, 8 Simple Rules)
Sketch Toons: an animated comedy series from Charles Horn (Robot Chicken)
Tranquility Dome: a sci-fi-noir series from Chip Proser (Innerspace)
John’s Hand: a family drama from Catherin Butterfield (Party of Five, Ghost Whisperer)
Fusion: a sci-fi series from Richard Manning (Star Trek, Farscape)
Wild Times in the Wild Wood
: a series of animated shorts from Chuck Sheetz (The Simpsons, King of the Hill)
West Guild Story: a musical set during the 2007 Writers’ Strike from Rob Schow.

Strike TV is elling advertising around the content and splitting revenues with the producers, who retain all rights to the content – after a three-month exclusivity period.
