VH1 Lat Am closes in on deals for its new movie block

VH1 Latin America is introducing a new movie block and is in LA during Screenings week to cut a number of major volume deals with the studios.

The pay broadcaster is launching its ‘Ladies Night’ block with a series of chick flicks. "It nicely complements our ‘Movies That Rock’ block," Dean Broadhurst, senior director of acquisitions and programming for VH1 and MTV Latin America, told TBIvision, adding that it was close to a couple of deals with the Hollywood studios.

VH1 Latin America has ramped up its acquisition of international drama series such as Tiger Aspect’s Secret Diary of a Call Girl, which is distributed by IMG. "We’re starting to experiment with more scripted drama series such as Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Perhaps that’s an evolution to buy even more international drama series," Broadhurst said.
