DRG shopping for animation producer
Digital Rights Group, the UK distribution company that owns Portman Films, iD Distribution and Zeal Television, is eyeing further acquisitions, particularly animation producers.
Jeremy Fox, chief executive of DRG told TBIvision that it wanted to move into the animation field for the first time. Fox added that it was also looking to acquire a number of catalogues to further boost its distribution reach and that it would also be focusing on a North American sales operation.
The company, which also owns Channel 4 International, formats company Click TV and new media outfit i-Rights, had previously looked at buying a number of music programme producers but decided against it because it felt the genre was too niche.
Digital Rights Group was created at the end of 2006 with investment from private equity outfit Ingenious Media Active Capital.
