Ratings Watch Don’t Forget the Lyrics

RDF’s sing-a-long music format Don’t Forget the Lyrics has now bowed, with varying results, in the US, France and Italy and is soon to launch in the UK.

The pilot episode of the Italian version of the musical gameshow, known locally as Canta e Vinci, aired Tuesday, December 18, 2007 in primetime and achieved a good 12.60% audience share in the 4+ demo. That placed it fourth in its time slot and gave it a 14.43% share in the 15-64 commercial target. In Italy in 2007, Italia 1 averaged a 11.2% audience share in the 4+.

In France on France 2, Saturday, on December 15, 2007 from 7pm to 7.55pm, the first episode of N’oubliez pas les Paroles, the local adaptation of the RDF format, achieved a good 15.7% audience share in the 4+. That placed it third in its time slot. The December 29 episode achieved a 17.2% audience share. The celebrity version of the show achieved a 21.5% audience share in the 4+, finishing second in its time slot. In France in 2007, France 2 averaged a 18.1% audience share in the 4+.

On Fox in the US the series started on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 9.30pm to 10pm. The first episode achieved a 9% audience share in households and a 10% share in the 18-to-49-year-old demo, leading its time slot. On Thursday, July 12, the second episode achieved a 9% audience share in households and a 10% share in the 18-to-49s. From July 11, 2007 to January 10, 2008, the gameshow averaged a 7.4% audience share in households and a 7.1% share in the 18-to-49s. Season-to-date, FOX averaged a 9% audience share in households and a 9% audience share in the 18-49.

In the UK, Sky One is developing a local adaptation of the show. The format has already been adapted in India and in Turkey.
