E! rebrands, CIMG sells VOD shows

Recently-established Comcast International Media Group will start selling a package of video-on-demand-ready content to digital operators at MIPCOM. CIMG, Comcast’s international arm, will shop a VOD-ready package comprising content from E!, Style, G4, The Golf Channel and Exercise TV.

“This is a turnkey solution and the content will be refreshed at a quick rate,” CIMG vice president Kevin Maclellan says. “There will be a combination of long and short form content and it’s scalable. If an operator wants content from three channels, they can have three. At the moment there are a lot of [operators] with candy stores with no candy.”

The revenue model for CIMG will depend upon the strategy of the cable operator in question and could take the form of a flat fee or a revenue share.

CIMG represents the Comcast-backed channels and their programming in international markets. As well as E! Entertainment and Style there is videogames channel G4 and hunting and fishing network Versus.

Maclellan also said the first full rollout of the Style network will take place this fall although, at the time of going to press, the territory and platform had not been announced.

CIMG is also weighing plans to launch full, linear, versions of G4 and The Golf Channel in international markets.
