MuchMusic, the Canadian music channel operated by Chum Television, has launched its own branded credit card.
The broadcaster launched the MuchMusic Prepaid Mastercard targetting viewers between the ages of 13 and 24. Although Canadian financial services rules prohibit those under 16 having their own credit line, those between 13 and 15 can apply with the help of parents.
MuchMusic hopes the prepaid card will help viewers purchase a number of online services such as downloadable music and videos. It will also donate 10% of all net profit from the move into financial services to War Child Canada. The card has been issued in partnership with Mint Technology and GE Money Canada.
