Netflix revives Queer Eye
Global streamer Netflix is bringing back long-running US cable reality series Queer Eye for the Straight Eye.
Production on a new season of the show will begin this summer, with original prodco Scout Productions and the ITV Entertainment branch of UK broadcaster ITV’s US arm attached.
The series ran on NBCUniversal-owned Bravo for five seasons between 2003 and 2007, and later went briefly into US syndication by reaching 100 episodes.
A UK version ran on ITV for two seasons in 2004, and there were also remakes in Australia, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Norway among others.
The format’s creator and original executive producer, David Collins of Scout, is returning for the SVOD reboot along with Michael Williams and Rob Eric.
Netflix has been at the Realscreen factual event in Washington, DC this week touting plans to expand its unscripted originals slate this year.
