Nordic World bags rights to buzzy new Israeli gameshow
NordicWorld has picked up international rights to The Big Picture, a new Israeli gameshow format launched at MIPTV this week.
Distribution group Nordic World has been expanding its footprint, linking with producers in the UK and Ireland and buying into Netherlands-based formats distributor Absolutely.
The Big Picture was created by Israeli host and magician Nimrod Harel and Israeli content company Acappella.
A US$1 million pilot has already been produced and Nordic World will now oversee the international roll out of the series. There are no broadcasters on board yet.
In the show contestants answer multiple choice questions based on pictures seen on a huge screen. Should they answer incorrectly, the producers go to a viewer at home who has been playing along via a dedicated app, who can then play for a share of the winnings.
Einat Shamir, CEO of Accapella said: “Live interaction in a pre-recorded show opens endless possibilities for broadcasters all over the world that crave for must see television. To take it to the next level we want to partner with someone who is not only the best in the industry, but also someone who shares our vision. We found them in [Nordic World partner and format consultancy] Boxatricks and Nordic World.”
