Pre-market Lip Sync deals for Viacom
Viacom International Media Networks has shopped its entertainment format Lip Sync Battle to a raft of buyers and producers ahead of MIPCOM.
VIMN launched the show at MIPTV and has sold it into China, the UK and Latin America.
New pre-market deals for the format, in which celebrities mime along to famous musical numbers, include one with French Canadian channel operator Groupe V.
It will run a Salvail & Co.-produced version of the show, which will be known locally as Lip Sync Battle: Face a Face, on its pay TV channel Musique Plus and free-TV offering Channel V.
In southeast Asia, NET TV has ordered a local 45x30mins version entitled Celebrity Lip Sync Battle, which will debut in October. In Poland, a 12x30mins local version will run on TVN’s VOD platform with Golden Media on production duties.
In Australia the finished US series has been airing on free-TV channel Nine. It has now been optioned by FremantleMedia, which will work up a local version of the format. In New Zealand, where the taped Lip Sync has been playing on TV3, local prodco MediaWorks has optioned the show.
The format is based on a segment in Jimmy Fallon’s US talkshow and was the first offering from his prodco Eight Million Plus. It is part of VIMN’s formats slate for MIPCOM. Other shows for the market include MTV’s Fired By Mum and Dad and Say it in Song.
