Marvista brings Saved by the Bell TV movie to Cannes
LA-based producer and distributor Marvista is launching Behind the Hit: The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story at MIPCOM.
The 90-minute TV movie went out on US cable net Lifetime earlier this year and will get its international launch in Cannes next week.
The TV movie follows the behind the scenes story of the sitcom, which ran on US net NBC between 1989 and 1993.
It will be part of Marvista’s MIPCOM movie slate. The company has been increasing its output, giving it rights to a greater number of movies.
“We have 21 TV movies for MIPCOM, which is our biggest slate ever,” Vanessa Shapiro, executive VP, distribution, said. “Our goal was to release 40 movies in all this year and that translates to a big MIPCOM slate.”
Aside from the Saved by the Bell movie, other new titles include romantic drama Coffee Shop, rom-com Heavenly Match and Hallmark movie My Boyfriends’ Dogs.
There are also holiday season movies 12 Dog Days Till Christmas, My Dad is Scrooge and The Nine Lives of Christmas.
Marvista will also have kids and teen-skewed titles including Zapped, which premiered on Disney Channel in the US in June.
