Scripted deals: BritBox & RTÉ pocket C5’s ‘Inheritance’; Paramount+ buys Swiss drama; O4 Media to sell MBC shows
BritBox & RTÉ pocket C5’s Inheritance
Streaming service BritBox is among those to have acquired family thriller The Inheritance, which debuted last year on Paramount’s Channel 5 in the UK.
The show, sold by Eccho Rights, will head to BritBox in the US and Canada, along with RTÉ in Ireland, NPO in the Netherlands and Pickbox in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bulgaria.
The 4 x 60-minute drama tells the story of three siblings who are left reeling after the unexpected death of their father. When it turns out they are not left anything in the will, they embark on a dangerous journey to figure out whether his death was truly a tragic accident, or whether it was in fact murder.
The show was a co-production from Eccho Rights owner Night Train Media, Lonesome Pine Productions and Peer Pressure.
Paramount+ buys Swiss drama
MHZ in the US and Paramount+ have picked up Minor Offence, the French-language drama produced for Swiss pubcaster RTS.
The show will air on Paramount+ in France, as well as on TV5 Monde and Polar+. Other sales struck by distributor About Premium Content include Blue Play picking up right for German-speaking Switzerland and RTP taking the show for Portugal.
The 6 x 52-minute drama was produced by Alva Film and Hélicotronc for RTS. It is written by Jacqueline Surchat, Marco Rivard and Nicole Borgeat, who also directs.
The story tracks a judge, a youth worker and a police inspector who all called into action when a girl is found dead, with a host of teenagers linked to the murder.
