Rare TV expands int’l focus with Zig Zag appointment

Chris Sanders

UK-based factual producer Rare TV has appointed Zig Zag Productions’ Chris Sanders to an internationally facing development role.

Sanders becomes development producer at the Digging For Britain prodco and will specialise in projects for the global market.

He report into VP of US development Christian Broadhurst and joins from Zig Zag, where he was assistant producer and senior development executive. Sanders was also one of the inaugural winners of The David Lyle Foundation annual scholarship programme.

His arrival comes as Rare TV increases its strategy to develop existing formattable IP for global sales. The first of these is an international reversion of Digging For Britain, which is in development with an as yet unnamed international broadcaster.

Rare TV CEO Alexander Gardiner said: “We work very hard at bringing innovation to our international projects, and that creativity is only set to improve with the arrival of Chris, who is not only full of brilliant ideas but has an incredible work ethic.”

Rare’s slate also includes BBC Daytime series Expert Witness and Body Of Evidence for ViacomCBS-owned UK broadcaster 5STAR.
