Nickelodeon Studios readies revival of superhero comedy ‘The Thundermans’
Nickelodeon Studios in the US has ordered a spin-off to its live-action kids superhero comedy series The Thundermans.
The original show ran for four seasons on Nickelodeon from 2013 to 2018 and the green light for the spin-off follows its recent revival as TV movie The Thundermans Return on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ in March.
The Thundermans followed the titular superpowered family as they attempt to live a normal life while using their superhuman abilities to stop crime.
The spinoff series will star returning cast members Kira Kosarin, Jack Griffo and Maya Le Clark, and follow Phoebe and Max, who are sent undercover to handle a new threat in the seaside town of Secret Shores and bring Chloe along to develop her superhero talent.
Production on the show will begin in Vancouver in August, with premiere details to be announced at a later date. The show will also feature guest appearances from additional original series cast members.
The series is executive produced by Jed Spingarn, Sean W. Cunningham & Marc Dworkin, alongside Kosarin and Griffo.
Production of the series for Nickelodeon Studios is overseen by Shauna Phelan, head of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action. Brian Banks serves as Nickelodeon’s executive in charge of production.
