NP Singh, MD and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) is stepping down from his role after 25 years with the company.

Singh shared the news in a statement, in which he wrote: “After nearly 44 years in my career, including a rewarding 25-year tenure at SPNI, I have decided to move on from my role as MD and CEO.

“Having reached many significant milestones with our team, I am now ready to focus on social change and shift from operational roles to advisory ones.”

Singh said that he will continue to lead SPNI until a suitable replacement is found and revealed that a structured succession planning process is underway, adding: “Finding the right fit is our top priority”

The outgoing exec ended the statement by acknowledging: “I understand there may be speculation during this time, so I urge everyone to rely on our official updates. We are committed to sharing timely and transparent information through our established channels and will communicate any definitive updates directly.”

Singh joined the company in 1999 as chief financial officer before being promoted to COO in 2004 and then MD and CEO in 2014.

His departure comes several months after Sony’s aborted $10bn merger between its Indian division and Zee Entertainment Enterprises, following more than two years of negotiations.

The deal had been in the works since December 2021 and would have seen around 70 channels coming under one roof, as well as streaming operations and a studio business.
