Paramount+ drama ‘Serial Killer’s Wife’ sells into Europe, Japan
Antena 3 in Spain, TV4 in Sweden and Wowow in Japan are among buyers of Paramount+ drama The Serial Killer’s Wife.
The 4 x 60-minute show, produced by Clapperboard and Black Box Media, is based on the book by Alice Hunter and has also sold into Finland (MTV), Ireland (Virgin Media) and New Zealand (TV3).
European distributor Newen Connect, which handles global sales, said further deals are in negotiation.
The Serial Killer’s Wife aired in the UK and Ireland on Paramount+ and starred Annabel Scholey (The Split), Jack Farthing (Rain Dogs) and Luke Treadaway (A Street Cat Named Bob).
It is set in a family home nestled in an idyllic English town and explores how the wife of a beloved local doctor finds out he was had a sinister secret life.
Newen Connect is also set to distribute Clapperboard’s latest 4 x 60-minute thriller, The Teacher II, for which it will also be associate producer.
Leona Connell, chief commercial officer at Newen Connect, said: “The Serial Killer’s Wife is proving to be a strong contender for our broadcast and SVOD partners internationally.
“We are finding that increasingly linear broadcasters are looking at four-parters with the view to programming them as an event over two evenings. The Serial Killer’s Wife makes a great stunt drama for channels looking for maximum impact.”
