Sony Pictures TV hires Paramount alum Kate Gill to head up comedy development
Sony Pictures Television has appointed former Paramount Television Studios exec Kate Gill as SVP of comedy development.
Based in Culver City, Gill will oversee the development of new comedy series for the company’s US scripted division and will report to EVP of comedy development Colin Davis.
Its current slate includes Platonic for Apple TV+, Peacock’s Twisted Metal and Netflix’s Cobra Kai.
Gill, who previously served as SVP of development at Paramount Television Studios, was among the 800 employees let go from the US media giant in February.
During her time there, she oversaw titles including Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies for Paramount+ and Max shows Station Eleven and Made For Love.
Prior to Paramount, Gill served as development and current executive at YouTube Originals and director of development at JASH, the comedy-focused firm founded by comedians including Michael Cera and Sarah Silverman.
“Kate has established a well-deserved reputation as a true tastemaker and a talent-friendly executive. Her strong relationships, varied experiences and passionate outlook will be an essential asset to the team as we dive into this new era of comedy television,” said Davis.
