Apple TV+ orders second Mick Herron adaptation, 60Forty Films to produce
Apple TV+ is expanding its Mick Herron adaptations, this time with a drama starring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson from UK-based 60Forty Films.
Down Cemetery Road follows a woman, played by Wilson, who attempts to find out what happens to a girl who disappears when a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb.
She enlists the help of a private investigator, played by Thompson, and together they suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.
Thompson and Herron exec produce alongside lead writer Morwenna Banks (Slow Horses), and Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta and Tom Nash from 60Forty Films. Natalie Bailey (Audrey) is director.
The commission comes three months after Apple TV+ extended another Herron adaptation, Slow Horses, into a third season. It is produced by See-Saw Films, which Laurenson and Kousetta left in 2021 to set up 60Forty Films.
“Down Cemetery Road has all the hallmarks of Mick Herron’s funny and acerbic writing, and I’m delighted we will be bringing it to life for Apple TV+ with such a stellar cast,” said Jay Hunt, creative director of Europe for Apple TV+.
“Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson will make it an unmissable companion piece for Slow Horses on our service.”
