Amazon acquires first Arabic TV series with ‘Self Modulation’ from Falcon Films & Arna Media

Behind the scenes on ‘Self Modulation’

Amazon has acquired global rights to Lebanon-based dramedy Self Modulation, from producers Falcon Films and Arna Media, for streamer Prime Video.

The producers claim that this is the first Arabic TV series ever sold to the streaming platform, with the title forming part of a multi-show deal partly financed by Arna Media, which plans to invest in two projects annually with Falcon Films.

Self Modulation is produced by Sobhi Sannan, Rami Sannan and Raed Sannan for Falcon Films and Nadezda Motina and Aram Hovhannisyan for Arna Media. The 10 x 50-minute series will air in Q2 2024 and is written by Foad Yammine, Rami Awad and director Mayar Al Nouri.

Starring Maxim Khalil, Carole El Hajj and Natasha Choufani, the series follows the story of Ahmad, a Syrian man living illegally in Lebanon whose life takes a dramatic turn after witnessing a tragic event. As he navigates his way through a job at a suicide hotline centre, Ahmad’s dreams of fame and recognition lead him down a path of deception and destruction.

Beirut-and-Dubai-based Falcon Films is an independent production and distribution company across the Middle East, behind titles including Downtown for Jawwy STC, 8 Days for MBC Shahid and The Chamber for Starzplay Arabia.

Arna Media, meanwhile, is Moscow based independent distribution company that releases local language and international feature films for the Russian market. Upcoming titles include Civil War from A24, Longlegs from BlackBear, Night At Zooapocalypse from Anton and Bride Hard from WME.

“We are eagerly anticipating the imminent release of the series on Amazon and are eager to hear the audience’s response. From the outset, our goal has been to showcase our capability to produce content with global appeal, reaching audiences beyond the Middle East.” said Rami Sannan, MD of Falcon Films.
