Polar+ in France has picked up rights to Viaplay’s upcoming drama End Of Summer, which is set to become available in more than 40 countries worldwide.

The six-part psychological thriller is based on former police officer Anders de la Motte’s Swedish novel of the same name and stars The Bridge‘s Julia Ragnarsson with The Sandhamn Murders‘ Erik Enge.

The show was produced by Viaplay and Harmonica Films, in co-production with SF Studios, Film i Skåne and Paprika Studios. It is sold by Viaplay Content Distribution and tracks a sister’s search for the truth behind her young brother’s disappearance and his potential return decades later.

Polar+, part of the Canal+ Group, has picked up rights to the show across its territories and has also acquired Norwegian crime drama Fenris, which follows mysterious disappearances in a wolf-inhabited forest.

End Of Summer has already been sold to companies including Wowow Japan, Deutsche Telekom Germany, Vodafone Greece, SBS Australia and Pickbox in CEE, among numerous others.

Vanda Rapti, Viaplay Group’s EVP of Viaplay Select & Content Distribution, said: “Having Nordic shows sold prior to their launch in their motherland, in so many markets in the world, is evidence to both the increasing appeal of Nordic story telling around the world, as well as the strength of Viaplay Select being an ideal platform for premium Nordic content.”
